BACK TO SCHOOL!!

,Though it’s hard to believe, summer is winding down already. Schools are setting up and football season is just around the corner. After a lovely summer season, it is now time to prepare your home and family for the allergy season, cooler temperatures and a new school year. While everyone knows about “spring cleaning”, it’s good practice to clean, de-clutter and prepare your home for each changing season.

How can I clean my kids’ filthy backpacks?

Answer

To clean: Backpacks sometimes seem to double as garbage bags. So first empty your child’s pack and turn it upside down over an open newspaper to get rid of lurking debris. Remove visible dirt from the inside and outside with a dry scrub brush or a vacuum, using the upholstery attachment. Then wipe all over with a sponge moistened with mild dish detergent; give a final wipe with a damp sponge and air-dry. Do not soak or submerge the bag in water (which can damage the protective surface coating). Store in a dry place to prevent mold and mildew. If the zipper gets stuck

If the zipper gets stuck, loosen with a non-staining silicone spray.

Kid hint: Make sure your children unload food, candy, gum wrappers, and dirty napkins and tissues as soon as they get home. Set aside one day a week (Friday or Saturday, perhaps) when they have to empty the pack and remove nonessential items.
